- The AAP provides a network for NHS adult psychotherapists via meetings, email links and this website. We meet in different parts of the country four times a year. The meetings are very informal and new members are most welcome. We divide our business between national concerns and local issues providing support and advice to members.
- More recently we have developed two sub groups, one looking at the evidence base for psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the NHS. The second group aims to keep abreast of political initiatives such as new NICE guidelines and Improving Access to Psychological Therapies.
The objectives of the AAP- 1. To advise Health Trusts about the employment of adult psychotherapists in ways that meet the requirements of equity, efficiency and accountability.
2. To disseminate information about different employment practices via the recently developed Terms and Conditions of Service for Adult Psychotherapists and Agenda for Change Job Profiles. 3. To provide a network of informal support and information for adult psychotherapists, particularly those in isolated positions. 4. To develop and promote standards of good practice for adult psychotherapy in the NHS |
